Young Alumni Surfari with South Bay Bruins

Bruins chillin' at the beach

The Orange County Bruins teamed up with the South Bay Bruins July 28-29 for a co-sponsored campout and Surfari at San Onofre State Beach. We camped out at the San Mateo Loop Campgrounds on the evening of July 28 and enjoyed a wonderful barbeque and bonfire as we all sat back, relaxed, and mingled with our fellow Bruins. All in all, there were about 15 Bruins in attendance for the evening’s festivities.

Dig, Set, Spike!

Then, on July 29, we all rose early and staked out a place at the Old Man’s Lifeguard Shack on the San Onofre Beach for a day of Surfing, Sun, and of course Bruins! There were about 25 Bruins in all there for the Beach Day ranging from Class of 2015 all the way down to Class of 1932! Sun block flowed like water as we had a great time playing volleyball, surfing (some of us for the first time), barbecuing, and of course the group corn boil where we boiled 5 pounds of corn in seawater for everyone’s enjoyment. The event was such a success that we hope to make this a yearly Young Alumni tradition! Look for this event next year!
